It's still growing nicely, and is the tallest in the county. With 3 separate plantings throughout the landscape, there are 97 stalks in all. That's alot of peaches and cream for the freezer later.....
I bombed out on starting mine inside (blaming bad potting mix I used), so I got it direct seeded in the garden on Friday. If all goes according to plan, I'll sow another bed of it in 2-3 weeks.
Daphne - thanks, I hope yours does well for you this time. Granny - mine is always started in the worst soil possible, and always in cellpacks left outside.
Wow that corn looks good and healthy. I never thought to grow corn in self watering containers. I wasn't going to use them this year, but I do have some corn seeds I want to try. Hmmm......
How many corn plants do you suggest planting in an 18 gallon SWC?
My man, planting that peaches and cream. I got about 250 feet of the stuff going. Your looks really good. I am down to my last bag in the freezer from last year. I hope to harvest in early June.
It's a first time I see anyone grow corn in containers. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteJenny - these are self-watering, and 12 plants per container. It works quite well, and is my 4th year growing it this way.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful corn. I have a lot of corn to plant this year. I just hope it does better than last year. Corn seems to be a hard crop for me.

Rachel - I'm so sorry for not answering this for you. I would probably go with about 8 plants.
DeleteThanks Jeff! I still have plenty of time before planting corn :)

ReplyDeleteHow long have you had this blog going? I just stumbled across it from another blog.
ReplyDeleteKris - I've had it going since mid-february. It is part of my rehabilitation from what I've been going through. I can't go back to the other one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update, I am glad I found you again. Take care brother, sending prayers for you.
